Our Inspiration
We’re Jennifer Caldwell and Jason Chakravarty, the artists behind JC Squared. Based in Kingston, Washington, we create glass sculpture, jewelry, and mixed-media work inspired by our life together.
Our work is autobiographical, shaped by observation, interaction, and everyday experience. Familiar forms—octopuses, bees, houses, chairs, and ice cream cones—become ways to explore relationships, shelter, growth, and humor.
Travel continually expands what we notice. In Honduras, coral, anemones, and colorful fish draw us to underwater forms and movement. In Portugal, historic architecture alongside contemporary street art offers patterns, textures, and contrasts. These impressions return with us to the studio and become part of our stories.
Closer to home, time on the water and the changing Pacific Northwest landscape keep us looking. A curling tentacle, honeycomb structure, or light passing through water can inspire a piece, as can an ordinary object or a funny moment.
Glass is central to our practice. We use flameworking, blowing, casting, and other processes, incorporating felt, steel, and additional materials when they support the story. Light, transparency, color, and texture guide each idea.
JC Squared brings our two perspectives into an ongoing conversation. From earrings to sculptural installations, each work begins with something we’ve noticed, experienced, or imagined—and gives it a form we can share.
